The ceremony organized on 5th of December 2016 at Senate Chamber of Warsaw University of Technology was dedicated to Professor Henryk Skarżyński, worldwide renown scientist, otosurgeon, expert in otorhinolaryngology, audiology and phoniatrics, creator and director of Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing and World Hearing Center.The laureate was awarded with CAS distinction called “Pythagorean Universe” and crystal statuette in the form of a dodecahedron with the outline of Plato's Academy. The motto of CAS distinction: Laus tibi, non tuleris qui vincula mente animoque (Praise you for not allowing to put ties on your mind and spirit) perfectly characterizes extraordinary personal merits of the laureate and numerous accomplishments at many medical and scientific fields.
The ceremony was conducted by Prof. Stanislaw Janeczko, director of the Center for Advanced Studies and laudation was given by Prof. Krzysztof Zaremba, Dean of The Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology WUT, in the presence of Professor Jan Szmidt, Rector of WUT and invited guests, professors and representatives of Warsaw University of Technology, Polish Academy of Sciences and the Warsaw University, among others: Prof. Rajmund Bacewicz, Vice-Rector of WUT; Prof. Kazimierz Stępień, UW; Prof. Franciszek Krok; Prof. Piotr Wolański; dr Piotr Przybyłowicz, Prof. WUT; Prof. Mirosław Karpierz; Prof. Piotr Wolański; Prof. Roman Z. Morawski; Prof. Zbigniew Brzózka.
