2nd CAS Distinction for Professor Marek Abramowicz, 03.12.2015
The ceremony organized at the Centre for Advanced Studies was dedicated to Professor Marek Abramowicz from Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center of Polish Academy of Sciences.
The laureate was awarded with a title of Master of the Center for Advanced Studies and received CAS statuette in the form of a crystal dodecahedron with the outline of Plato's Academy. The ceremony was celebrated in the presence of invited guests: professors and representatives of Warsaw University of Technology, Polish Academy of Sciences and the Warsaw University: prof. Rajmund Bacewicz, prof. Leon Gradoń, prof. Kazimierz Stępień, prof. Zbigniew Lonc, prof. Józef Modelski, prof. Leszek Adamowicz, prof. Franciszek Krok, prof. Małgorzata Lewandowska, prof. Piotr Przybyłowicz, prof. Alina Maciejewska, prof. Jerzy Banaszek, prof. Jerzy Tafel, prof. Andrzej Kolasa, prof. Rafał Moderski, prof. Piotr Życki, prof. Mirosław Karpierz and Chairwoman of the Student Council Żaneta Krześniak.
The ceremony was conducted by prof. Stanislaw Janeczko, director of the Center for Advanced Studies. Biography of Professor Abramowicz and scientific achievements in the field of astrophysics and numerous non-scientific interests was presented by professor Kazimierz Stępień from the Astronomical Observatory of the Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw. Motto Laus tibi, non tuleris qui vincula mente animoque (Praise you for not allowing to put ties on your mind and spirit) perfectly reflect the life achievements of Professor Marek Abramowicz. The numerous and extraordinary accomplishments at the wide range of fields like science, art, public, popular science, education had been appreciated by the CAS Advisory Council by granting with Distinction of Center for Advanced Studies.
