Distinguished on 26 June 2012 Medal of the Young Scientist for outstanding achievements in the study of relativistic nuclear collisions, in particular for the development and practical introduction to heavy ion physics of a new research method, consisting in the analysis of non-static fluctuations in the characteristics of emitted particles.
The laureate was born on 20 December 1976 in Minsk Mazowiecki. In 2000, she graduated from the Faculty of Physics of the University of Warsaw (Department of Particle and Fundamental Physics), where she also received her doctorate in 2005. Since the beginning of this century Dr.. K. Grebieszkow has participated in the experiment NA49 (since 2005 also NA61/SHINE) with the SPS (Super Proton Synchrotron) accelerator at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), where he deals with data collection and analysis; the main subject of her work is the study of dynamic fluctuations in various characteristics of particles produced during heavy-ion collisions. In 2009 Dr. Katarzyna Grabieszkow was awarded the Second Degree Individual Rector's Award for Scientific Achievements at Warsaw University of Technology. The didactic work is also important element of the laureate's interests. For teaching at the Faculty of Physics of the University of Warsaw she received a distinction in 2001 and 2002. Since 2006, Dr. K. Grebieszkow has been an assistant professor at the Faculty of Physics WUT (Nuclear Physics Division), where she conducts classes for students. Since 2007, she has been the official supervisor of five completed Master's theses and a consultant for many other theses, including the doctoral theses currently being prepared. Privately, she is interested in contemporary novel, horse riding and hippotherapy.
