University seminar "Horizons of Science Disciplines", May 21, 2026
The Center for Advanced Studies at Warsaw University of Technology invites you to the university-wide scientific seminar Horizons of Scientific Disciplines .
The seminar aims to present the achievements of teams representing specific disciplines at Warsaw University of Technology. The planned meeting, focusing on management and quality sciences, entitled " Modeling Production Processes with Digital Tools ," will feature a lecture by Justyna Smagowicz, PhD, Eng., and Cezary Szwed , PhD, Eng. (Faculty of Management, Warsaw University of Technology). The co-presenters will be Damian Krenczyk, PhD, DSc, Eng. (Silesian University of Technology) and President Dawid Dąbal (Intermarium sp. z o. o.), and the moderator will be Anna Kosieradzka, PhD, DSc, Eng. (Faculty of Management, Warsaw University of Technology).
The lecture focuses on the application of simulation modeling in production management and the development of methods supporting the analysis, design, and improvement of production processes. The presented approach has been developed for nearly ten years within the Center for Production Modeling and Organization and is interdisciplinary in nature, combining production engineering, applied mathematics, and computer science. The presentation will present the possibilities of representing production processes in simulation models, identifying characteristics that facilitate model building and barriers to adaptation in the digital environment.
A range of applications is outlined, including production research and development, designing new processes, improving existing solutions, and optimizing parameters at various planning levels, as well as examining the impact of resource constraints in the production process. In terms of expected development directions, the presentation discusses challenges arising from the need for rapid adaptation to changing environmental conditions and the increasing complexity of decision-making problems. Potential answers based on optimization methods and artificial intelligence are proposed. Examples confirming the importance of this topic and its further development potential are also included.
The online meeting will take place on May 21, 2026 at 4:15 p.m. on the TEAMS platform .
