University seminar "European Institutional Evaluation of the Warsaw University of Technology", 16.03.2023

The Center for Advanced Studies at the Warsaw University of Technology invites you to the PW University Seminar entitled "European Institutional Evaluation of the Warsaw University of Technology", whose speaker will be Prof. Zbigniew Pakieła, the Rector's Representative for Educational Quality and Accreditation. The meeting will take place on 16 March 2023 at 4.15 pm in room 134 in the Main Building of WUT.

As part of the "The Excellence Initiative - Research University" (IDUB) programme, Warsaw University of Technology has committed to conducting an international institutional evaluation. This evaluation will be carried out under the Institutional Evaluation Programme (IEP), offered as an independent service of the European University Association: European University Association (EUA), of which Warsaw University of Technology is a member.  Three types of evaluation are offered: general, with a special focus on internationalisation or with a special focus on research management and exploitation. As the evaluation is being conducted within the IDUB project, an evaluation with a special focus on research management and exploitation was chosen.

As part of the preparation for the evaluation, a self-evaluation report has been prepared with four main sections, answering 4 basic questions:

- What does the institution want to do?  Standards, values, mission and goals.

- How does the institution want to do it? Governance and operations.

- How does the institution know that it is moving towards its goals? Self-knowledge in the institution.

- How does the institution change in order to improve? Strategic management and readiness for change.

The individual issues are discussed and debated in the report in terms of strengths and weaknesses, and suggestions are made as to how identified weaknesses can be addressed and strengths developed.

The next stage of the evaluation will be two visits by the evaluation team, the first being conducted remotely and the second on-site, which are expected to take place in April and June this year. As part of these visits, the evaluation team will meet with different stakeholder groups from different departments of the WUT.

One important element of the preparation for the evaluation is a broad discussion at the University on the issues to be evaluated by the evaluation team. The University seminar is intended to be one element of this discussion. The main conclusions of the self-evaluation report will be discussed at the seminar, and a programme of evaluation activities will be presented.

Interested persons are welcome to attend the meeting.
