On 2-10 July 2016 Center for Advanced Studies hosted Professor Stephen Yau from the Department of Mathematics Statistics and Computer Sciences at University of Illinois, Chicago.
Professor Yau’s research interests concern algebraic geometry, singularity theory; complex geometry; CR geometry, nonlinear filtering theory; algebraic geometry code, information theory, control theory, financial math, image database, computer software testing, bioinformatics. Professor Yau is a managing editor of Journal of Algebraic Geometry and an editor-in-chief in Communications in Information and Systems. He is an author of 300 publications.
Professor Yau delivered the lecture "Kohn-Rossi cohomology and nonexistence of CR morphisms between compact strongly pseudoconvex CR manifolds" in the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw.
