Professor Gerald A. Urban is an academic at the Department of Microsystems Engineering at the University of Freiburg and a director of the Freiburg Materials Research Center. He is a renowned specialist in chemo- and biosensor microsystems for clinical applications.
Professor Gerald A. Urban graduated from the Vienna University of Technology, where he studied technical physics. Afterwards, he worked at the neurosurgical department at the University Hospital in Vienna. In 1985, he received PhD in electrical engineering at the Vienna University of Technology. He was a scientific director of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Biomedical Microengineering in Vienna and a dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences at the University of Freiburg.
He is an author and co-author of more than 100 papers, 15 book chapters and 57 patents and a winner of many prestigious awards.
Professor Gerald A. Urban will visit Warsaw University of Technology in April and October 2012. He will give a series of lectures on bio-microsystems and their clinical applications.
He will be hosted by Prof. Ryszard Jachowicz and Prof. Stanisław Janeczko.
