Professor Mina Teicher

She received her PhD degree at Tel-Aviv University; currently, she works at Bar-Illan University at which she was a vice-president for Research, a chairperson at the Department of Math and Computer Studies. Moreover, she was a member of  USA-Israel Bi-national Science Foundation Board, Education and Executive Committee of European Mathematical Society, Israeli Council for Higher Education, French-Israel High Council and on Foundation for Mathematics of Columbia University.

Presently professor Teicher is  a director in Emmy Noether Institute for Mathematics, a vice-president in International Commission for Mathematical Instruction (ICMI), a member of council of the Wolf’s Foundation, and a member of board  of International Women Forum (IWF). She is a delegate of Advisory Board to the European Commission on Gender Issues, also a member of National Council for Research and Development. In professor Teicher’s area of interest one finds issues on applied mathematics and computer science: geometry, topology of algebraic surfaces, braid group application to cryptography, algebraic curves in computer vision or neurocomputation and application in bio-medicine, CAD_CAM, electro-optic.   

Professor Teicher is an author of over 155 publications, 40 manuscripts, 2 patents, and an editor of 5 books. She was awarded for her scientific output and her contribution to actions for gender equality (Globes Magazine Award for being one of the 50 most influential women in Israel, 2006).

Mina Teicher will visit Warsaw University of Technology in September 2011  and will be hosted by Professor Janeczko.
