Professor Bożena Jaskorzyńska - renowned specialist in optics and photonics.
She graduated from the Faculty of Physics, Warsaw University of Technology, got her PhD from the Insitute of Fundamental Technological Research, Polish Academy of Sciences. After a year spent at Delft University of Technology as a beneficiary of a postdoctoral fellowship granted by the Dutch government, Professor Jaskorzyńska started her scientific career in Stockholm at the Institute of Optical Research, Royal Institute of Technology. It is at this institute where she first got the title of associate professor and then professor in the field of photonics.
Professor Jaskorzyńska is a pioneer in the second harmonic generation, non-linear fiber and integrated optics. She initiated and supervised the first in Sweden project on Er-doped fibers which became a fundamental element of optical fibers in telecom.
Professor Jaskorzyńska is the author of more than 130 publications in prestigious scientific journals (index h: 16) as well as a supervisor of 8 PhD theses. For 15 years, she has actively participated in a few European research programs related to the applications of photonics in telecom systems. She is a Swedish delegate to COST Action MP0702.
Professor Jaskorzyńska will be a guest of the Warsaw University of Technology in the academic year of 2009/2010. As a part of her visit, Prof. Jaskorzyńska will deliver a series of lectures on quantum electronics and will take part in numerous discussions with the representatives of the WUT academic community. The visit will be supervised by Professor Jan Szmidt and Professor Stanisław Janeczko.
