Professor Andrzej Wróbel

presents a lecture: The Brain and the Consciousness

Professor Andrzej Wróbel - Head of Laboratory of Visual System at the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology; Chairman of the Committee on Neurobiology of the Polish Academy of Sciences; Former President of the Polish Neuroscience Society; Former Director of the Department of Neurophysiology, Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology; Member of the board in international associations: International Brain Research Organization, European Neuroscience Association, European Brain and Behaviour Society, International Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility. Supervisor of 9 PhD theses, the author of 66 articles placed on the Master Journal List, 28 chapters published in books and textbooks, 37 publications popularising knowledge, the editor of 6 monographs and student textbooks. The founder and head of  the Department of Psychophysiology of Cognitive Processes, Warsaw School of Social Sciences and Humanities (Warsaw). The initiator of the first research team for neuroinformatics at the Nencki Institute. The supervisor of a research team for neurofeedback. Professor Wróbel focuses on examining dynamic operations within sensory systems of animals and humans. By means of electrophysiological recording techniques and neuroinformatics methods for data analysis, he correlates the activation of specific neuronal networks and small neuronal circuits with their behavioural context.

The lecture will be held on Thursday, 10 April 2014, at. 4.15 pm., room 134, the WUT Main Building.
