Professor Yosef Yomdin is an outstanding mathematician. He works at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Izrael in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.
Yosef Yomdin graduated from the Department of Mathematics at Novosibirsk University (MSc, 1971; PhD,1974). He worked in mathematics departments at Tashkent Polytechnic Institute and Ben-Gurion University. In 1988 he became professor of mathematics at the Weizmann Institute of Science. In 1987 he was awarded with Erdos Prize of the Israeli Mathematical Union.
In his scientific work, professor Yomdin focuses on differential equations analysis, local analysis and computer visualization. He has been invited as a visiting professor to many institutions, such as: Institute for Advanced Study Princeton, Max-Planck-Institut für Mathematik, Bonn, Fields Institute.
From 1991 to 2000 he was a coeditor of ‘Geometric and Functional Analysis’, and now he is a coeditor of 'Functional Differential Equations'. He is an author and co-author of 90 books including 'Lecture Notes In Mathematics' by Springer.
Professor Yomdin will visit Warsaw University of Technology from April to June 2010. He will be hosted by Professor Zygmunt Lonc and Professor Stanisław Janeczko.
