Professor Mircea Sofonea
Professor Mircea Sofonea - prominent specialist in contact mechanics. He holds a position of Director of Laboratoire de Mathematiques et Physique, Universite de Perpignan Via Domitia, France.
For a long time, he has cooperated with the researchers from the Faculty of Automotive and Construction Machinery Engineering, WUT. Professor Sofonea’s scientific achievements include: 7 books, 4 monographs and over 176 articles published in scientific journals. Furthermore, Professor Sofonea was awarded Honorary Membership of the Institute of Mathematics of the Romanian Academy of Sciences and he is a laureate of the Prize of Balkan Union of Mathematicians.
Prof. Sofonea will be a guest of the Warsaw University of Technology in October/November and December 2013. As a part of his visit, Professor will give two seminars on Mathematical Models in Contact Mechanics and Modelling and Analysis of Piezoelectric Contact.
The guest will be hosted by Prof. Jerzy Bajkowski and Prof. Stanisław Janeczko.
