Professor Tadamoto Sakai was born in 1941 in Tokyo. He received his Dipl. Eng. Degree in Applied Chemistry from the Shizuoka National University in 1964, and D.Sc. Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Hokkaido National University in 1983.
For many years he worked for Japan Steel Works (1964-2007), holding senior managerial positions. He was a Professor of several Japanese and Chinese universities, i.a. Kyoto University (1994-1995), University of Tokyo (2000-2003), Shanghai Jiao Tong University (2005-2007). Since 2005 he is a Professor at the Shizuoka National University. Prof. T. Sakai was the President of the International Polymer Processing Society (PPS) during 2003-2005, and the President of Japanese Society of Polymer Processing (JSPP) during 1998-2000.
Prof. T. Sakai is the author of more than 200 publications (300 speeches at international symposia) on many fundamental aspects of polymer processing and polymeric materials He is also the author or co-author of about 70 Japanese and international patents. In recognition of his rich scientific achievements Prof. T. Sakai was awarded several Japanese and international prizes of high prestige. In April, 18-22 Prof. T. Sakai is going to attend as a special guest the Conference Polymer’2012 which is organized by students of the Warsaw University of Technology.
