Professor Jerzy Rużyłło
Professor Jerzy Rużyłło is an outstanding specialist in semiconductor theory and engineering as well as semiconductor material and device production.
Professor Jerzy Rużyłło, PhD, DSc, eng, graduated from the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, Warsaw University of Technology. After receiving his PhD, he spent two years at the Tohoku University in Sendai, Japan. Since 1984 he has been working at the Penn State University, USA. Initially, he was employed at The Penn State University Park Electrical Engineering Department, and currently at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering in Penn State University. In the fall of 1997 he was a Visiting Professor at IMEC in Leuven. In 2003 he received the Professorship from the President of Poland.
Professor Rużyłło's research focuses on methods and devices for production of micro- and nanoelectronics semiconductors, photonics, as well as transformation and characterization of electronic and photonic materials. Research indicate a significance of surface modification process in integrated printing circuits producing processes, also in dielectric processing in advanced CMOS technologies, as well as innovative semiconductor methods (including: semiconductor quantum dots and refined dielectric layers). The professor's recent research refers to semiconductor quantum dots, diode processing and optic links. Additionally, the professor is involved in in-line surfaces characterization methods and real-time monitoring of semiconductor production processes.
Professor Rużyłło is a co-founder, and recently one of the chairmen and substantial counselor to the International Symposium on Wafer Cleaning Technology in Semiconductor Device Manufacturing, organized under the auspices of the American Electrochemical Society. Professor Rużyłło is also involved in other activities of the Association, lately as a head to the Faculty of Electronics and Photonics.
The professor is an author or co-author of approximately 300 papers and conference speeches, a few book chapters in „Semiconductor Glossary” and a holder of 6 patents. What is more, he has opened and runs websites on semiconductor science and engineering. The professor is an honorary member of an international organizations: IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and Electrochemical Society.
He will be hosted at the Warsaw University of Technology for three months, starting from January 17, 2010. Program of his stay consists of four areas: 1) conducting research, 2) lectures for students, 3) seminars and single lectures for the WUT scholarly community, 4) building of a permanent link between WUT and Penn State University.
Professor Rużyłło's patrons at WUT are: Professor Jerzy Szawłowski, Professor Jan Szmidt and Professor Stanisław Janeczko.
