Professor Michael Giersig - professor at the Department of Physics, Freie University Berlin, specialist in nanotechnology.
Professor Giersig’s scientific interests oscillate around the preparation of nanometer-sized semiconductor, metallic, magnetic particles and nanostructures (1-D, 3-D) based on single nanoparticles. His research is focused on the improvement prosperities of existing materials applied in photonics, conductive materials, polymers and composites. The results of his work find applications in electronics and biomedicine.
Professor Giersig is the owner of 7 patents and the author of over 230 publications. Currently, his Hirsh factor equals 63. He was as a visiting professor at i. a. National Centre for Nanoscience and Technology Beijing. He is a laureate of many awards, just to mention the Fulbright Award.
Professor Giersig will be a guest of the Warsaw University of Technology from January to June 2014.
The guest will be hosted by Vice-Rector for Research Prof. Rajmund Bacewicz and Prof. Stanisław Janeczko.
