Professor Peter J. Giblin works at the University of Liverpool. He is an outstanding mathematician, a member of a research group working on the singularity theory and its application. Peter J. Giblin graduated from King’s College, University of London (First Class Honours, 1964; Ph.D. in Mathematics, 1967) and since 1967 he has been working at the University of Liverpool (Professor, 2000) where he was the Head of Department of Mathematical Sciences, as well as the Head of Mathematics Division. His area of interests includes the singularity theory and its application in geometry, graphics and computer imaging.
Professor Giblin is a member of numerous mathematical societies and committees, including: London and American Mathematical Societies, as well as a member of a group for higher education at the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications (IMA) in Great Britain. Since 2008 he has supported substantially the section of mathematics at the British Science Festival.
He is a co-author of more than 100 publications and several mathematical books; in addition he has supervised 12 PhD theses.
Professor Peter J. Giblin has been visiting Warsaw University of Technology twice in the academic year 2009/2010, hosted by Professor Wiesław Sasin and Professor Stanisław Janeczko and from 21 june to 02 july 2016, hosted by Professor Stanisław Janeczko.
